May is one of the best months — around 22°C/11°C (72°F/52°F), warm and green, with the vineyards lush and the city at its prettiest. Rain still falls (about 75mm), but in shorter spells between sunny days. There's no single big public festival, but the weather and long days make it prime sightseeing time: the UNESCO old town, Place de la Bourse and the Miroir d'Eau, the Cité du Vin, and day trips to Saint-Émilion and the Médoc are all at their best. Warm evenings bring the terraces and quaysides to life, and the wine country looks superb. Demand and prices climb with the good weather, but it's well worth it. Note: book ahead, as May is popular. June brings reliably warm summer — around 25°C/14°C (77°F/57°F), drier than spring (about 60mm of rain), and bright, with long days and sunset near 22:00. In even-numbered years, Bordeaux Fête le Vin takes over the riverside quays — tasting pavilions for the region's appellations, tall ships, and concerts — the city's big public wine celebration. It's a highlight, but it fills hotels, so book ahead. The warm weather and long evenings make June excellent for everything: the UNESCO city, the Cité du Vin, day trips to the wine villages, and a coastal escape to the Dune du Pilat. Quaysides and terraces buzz late into the evening. Note: it's peak season for demand and prices, so book early. The sun is strong midday — carry water and sun protection. A superb month if you don't mind crowds and higher costs.

September is arguably Bordeaux's finest month — warm days around 24°C/13°C (75°F/55°F), softening from the summer heat, with the wine country buzzing as the harvest (vendanges) begins. Rain returns a little (about 70mm), but plenty of sun remains. The grape harvest gives the vineyards real energy — day trips to Saint-Émilion and the Médoc are special now, with the vines heavy and the cellars busy. It's a magical time for wine lovers. The summer crowds start to ease just slightly while the weather stays excellent for the UNESCO old town, the Cité du Vin, and the coast. Warm evenings keep the quaysides and terraces lively. Note: it's still a popular month, so book ahead, especially for harvest-season château visits. Pack a light layer for cooler evenings and an umbrella for the odd shower.
