May is arguably the single best month — warm but not hot afternoons (around 22°C), long sunny days, lush green valleys, and excellent balloon reliability with high flight-success rates. Weather is the most cooperative of the year: drier than April, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable temperatures for both ballooning and valley hiking. Mornings are mild (near 8°C) but still want a light jacket for the pre-dawn launch. The trade-off is popularity: May brings peak crowds and peak prices, so cave hotels with balloon-view terraces and the best flights sell out — book months ahead. UV is rising, so sun protection matters even when the air feels mild. If you want the best odds of flying in the most pleasant weather, May is the month to target.

September is one of the best months — warm but easing afternoons (around 27°C), dry settled weather, and excellent balloon reliability (cancellations around 14%). The fierce midday heat of high summer fades while the calm flying conditions remain. Mornings cool to near 11°C, so a light jacket for the pre-dawn launch is back in order, but daytime hiking becomes comfortable again. Rain is minimal (about 15mm). It pairs the dependable flights of summer with more pleasant touring temperatures. Crowds and prices stay high through September as the second peak season, so book ahead. For many travelers it is the ideal balance — great flight odds, comfortable weather, and the autumn light starting to soften. Along with April, May, and October, this is a prime window to plan a Cappadocia trip around the balloons.

April is one of the two best months to visit. Afternoons are pleasant (around 17°C), the landscape is green, and — most importantly — balloon flights become highly reliable, with success rates often above 85%. The one catch is rain: April is the wettest month of the year (around 60mm across the most rainy days), and occasional showers can still cancel a morning or muddy the trails. Building in a backup flight morning is wise. Mornings remain cool (near 4°C), so layer up for any pre-dawn launch. Crowds and prices climb as peak season arrives — book cave hotels and balloon flights well ahead. The combination of comfortable temperatures, green scenery, and dependable flights makes April a deservedly popular choice. Go for the strong flight odds and spring color; just plan around the chance of a wet morning.
