April is one of the best times to visit — warm, sunny days around 17°C/11°C, long daylight, and the Riviera at its spring best, before the summer heat and crowds peak. The sporting headline is the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (mid-April), one of the top clay-court tennis tournaments, drawing crowds to the Monte-Carlo Country Club. Easter also brings holidaymakers, so prices and visitor numbers climb. It's comfortable for everything Monaco offers — the casino, the Oceanographic Museum, the old town, the circuit walk — and ideal for pairing with Èze and Menton. The sea (~15°C) is still bracing for most, so this is sightseeing rather than swimming season. Note: book ahead around Easter and the tennis, when hotels fill and prices rise.

May brings warm, reliably sunny weather around 21°C/14°C — arguably the finest month on the Riviera, with the sea warming enough (~18°C) for early swims and the gardens in full bloom. Be aware of two big regional events: the Cannes Film Festival (mid-May, a short train west) spikes hotel prices across the coast, and the Monaco Grand Prix — which traditionally ran in late May — has moved to early June in 2026, so May is now the build-up rather than the race itself. Check current-year dates before booking. Monaco is glorious now: warm enough for the harbour and Larvotto, sunny for the circuit walk and the old town, and lively without August's heat. Pairing with Èze, Menton, and Nice is at its best. Note: prices are high and rising into summer; book accommodation early, especially around the Cannes festival fortnight.

September is one of the best months to visit — warm and settled at 25°C/19°C, with the sea still a balmy 23°C and the August crowds thinning out. The marquee event is the Monaco Yacht Show (late September), the world's leading superyacht exhibition, which fills Port Hercule with the largest yachts afloat — spectacular to see, though it pushes hotel prices up that week. Otherwise it's ideal: warm enough to swim at Larvotto, comfortable for the old town and circuit walk, and pleasant for day trips to Èze, Menton, and Nice without summer's intensity. Rain ticks up slightly from the dry summer, but sunshine still dominates. Note: book around the Yacht Show week, when accommodation gets scarce and pricey.
