April is one of the best months to visit Naples — peak spring at 19°C/9°C, sunny, with light rainfall (about 75mm) and comfortable temperatures for both the city and day trips. This is when crowds and prices climb into high season, especially around Easter and the April 25 Liberation Day holiday. Book hotels and Pompeii/Capri tickets ahead. The reward is ideal sightseeing weather: warm enough for the seafront and Capri, cool enough to walk Pompeii comfortably. Ferry schedules are in full spring swing, the Blue Grotto is usually open in calm seas, and the Amalfi Coast looks its lush, green best. Mt. Vesuvius and the National Archaeological Museum round out an easy itinerary. Late April brings the start of Maggio dei Monumenti, the city's cultural festival opening monuments and events into May. Pack light layers, sunglasses, and SPF — and reserve early, as April is firmly in demand.

May is arguably the finest month in Naples — warm and reliably sunny at 23°C/13°C, with little rain (about 50mm) and long days. Everything is open, but it's still a touch quieter than the July-August peak. The San Gennaro blood-miracle ceremony takes place at the Cathedral (the Saturday before the first Sunday of May), one of the city's three annual liquefaction events, drawing crowds. The Maggio dei Monumenti festival fills the month with cultural events and special openings. Day trips are at their best: Capri, the Blue Grotto, and the Amalfi Coast are open and gorgeous, the sea is warming for early swims, and Pompeii and Vesuvius are very comfortable. Ferries run frequently. This is high season, so prices are firm and popular sights and restaurants get busy — book ahead. Pack for warm days and bright sun: light clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

September is a top month in Naples — still warm at 28°C/18°C, with the sea at its warmest after a summer of heating, and crowds easing once the August peak passes. Rain ticks up a little (about 75mm), but conditions remain excellent. The September 19 feast of San Gennaro is the city's most important — the patron saint's dried blood is watched for liquefaction at the Cathedral, drawing big crowds and a festive atmosphere. It's a great time to experience local tradition. The islands and coast are ideal: warm water for swimming, full ferry schedules, and a touch fewer crowds than midsummer. Capri, the Amalfi Coast, and the Blue Grotto are all in play. Pompeii and Vesuvius are more comfortable than in peak heat. Prices stay high early in the month, then soften toward late September. Pack summer clothing with a light evening layer, swimwear, and sun protection — September offers warmth without the worst of the crowds.
