September is genuinely the best month to visit Paris. La Rentrée (back-to-school week, first week of September) marks the city's return from summer holidays — bistros reopen, locals return, and Paris hits full operating capacity. Weather is ideal: 20-22°C / 68-72°F daytime, 12-14°C / 54-57°F evenings, lower humidity than summer. Crisp light is photographically perfect — September is often considered Paris's most photogenic month. Paris Fashion Week (last week of September) brings a glamorous energy. While runway shows are industry-only, you can see street-style influencers and watch arrivals at the Louvre, Trocadéro, and major hotels. Hotels around the Right Bank fashion district get fashion-week premium pricing. Journeys du Patrimoine (Heritage Days, third weekend of September) opens 1,000+ government buildings normally closed to the public — including the Élysée Palace (presidential residence), Senate, French Constitutional Council. Free entry. Massive queues but unique experience. Hotel prices remain in spring peak range but with one advantage: Paris is at its most enjoyable.
