April is widely rated the best all-round month in Seychelles — the wind dies down and changes direction as the seasons turn, leaving calm, glassy seas and warm water. It averages around 31°C/26°C with rainfall continuing to ease. This is prime time for diving and snorkelling: visibility is at its best and the inter-island crossings are at their smoothest. Beaches across the islands tend to be at their most idyllic, with the seaweed cycle in a lull during the transition. Because it's such a good month, it's also popular — and the Easter holiday period can push prices up, so book ahead. The UV is intense, so sun protection is essential even when the air feels merely warm. If you can pick only one window for a first trip, April (with October) is the safe bet — calm, warm, and balanced across all three islands.

October is the second great transition month, rated alongside April as the best all-round time to visit. The winds turn light and change direction, the seas calm, and visibility for diving and snorkelling is excellent. It averages around 29°C/25°C with rainfall edging up as the wet season approaches. With the seaweed cycle in its transitional lull and crossings smooth, beaches across all three islands are at their most appealing. It's a popular, sought-after window, so book ahead — prices firm up. Whale shark season runs into November, and hawksbill turtles begin nesting on the reserve islands from around October into March (daytime nesting is a Seychelles feature). If you want the calm, balanced conditions of April but slightly later in the year, October is the pick. The UV stays intense, so don't skimp on sun protection.

March is one of the more settled months as the northwest monsoon winds down. It averages around 31°C/25°C with rainfall easing further (roughly 180-200mm) and the winds growing light during the seasonal transition. The slackening winds and calm, warm seas make March a favourite for divers and snorkellers — visibility is often excellent, and exposed coasts settle down. It's among the warmest months for sea temperature. The UV is intense near the equator (index 11-12), so strong reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and shade in the middle of the day matter more than the air temperature suggests. This is a transitional, generally good-value month before the drier season fully sets in. Showers still occur but are lighter and less frequent than mid-wet-season. A solid choice if you want calm water and fewer crowds.
