Tashkent Weather

April is one of Tashkent's two finest months — around 21°C/9°C (70°F/48°F), warm and green, with comfortable days for sightseeing. Rain still falls (about 60mm), but plenty of sunny stretches between. This is peak Silk Road season: the weather is ideal for the city's outdoor sights and, crucially, for day-tripping to Samarkand by Afrosiyob before the summer heat. Demand and prices are at their spring high, so book hotels and especially train tickets well ahead. The parks and squares are at their best, the bazaars are lively, and conditions are perfect for combining Tashkent with Samarkand and Bukhara. It's the most popular time alongside autumn. Note: this is a busy, higher-priced month — reserve Afrosiyob tickets 45-60 days out, as they sell out. Carry a light jacket for the evening and an umbrella for the odd shower.

May is arguably the best month to visit — around 27°C/13°C (81°F/55°F), warm and increasingly dry (about 35mm of rain), with reliable sunshine. Comfortable for full days outside before the summer extremes. It's peak Silk Road season alongside April: the weather is ideal for the city and for day trips to Samarkand, the parks and bazaars are at their liveliest, and long days mean pleasant warm evenings. Prices and crowds stay high. This is the last truly comfortable month before the searing heat of June-August, so it's a smart time to do the outdoor monuments of Samarkand and Bukhara while it's still pleasant. Note: by late May the heat begins building toward 30°C+ (high 80s°F), so do outdoor sightseeing earlier in the day and carry water. Book hotels and Afrosiyob tickets well ahead for this popular window.

September is one of the two best months — the summer heat eases to around 29°C/13°C (84°F/55°F), warm and dry, and by late month genuinely pleasant. Very little rain (about 10mm) and reliable sunshine. Independence Day on September 1 brings concerts and fireworks. This is the prime autumn Silk Road window: comfortable weather for the city and for day trips to Samarkand, with the bazaars overflowing in harvest season — grapes, melons, pomegranates, and dried fruit at their best. Crowds and prices climb back to shoulder-season highs, so book hotels and Afrosiyob tickets ahead. Early September can still be hot, but it loosens steadily and full-day sightseeing becomes easy again. Note: it's a popular time — reserve train tickets 45-60 days out. Evenings cool down late in the month, so pack a light layer. Overall, the best balance of weather, harvest abundance, and manageable conditions.
