June in Lyon is warm, sunny, and one of the best months to visit. It averages 24°C/14°C with good rainfall (75mm) but the year's longest, brightest days. The Nuits de Fourvière festival begins (June-July), staging concerts, theater, and dance in the ancient Roman theaters on the Fourvière hill — a magical summer-evening experience. The Fête de la Musique on June 21 fills the streets with free live music. Terraces, riverbank barge bars, and the Parc de la Tête d'Or are at their best. It's an excellent month for combining the city with day trips — Annecy's lake, the Beaujolais vineyards, and Pérouges all shine in early summer. Bouchons are still open before the August closures. Note: warm afternoons and the chance of a thunderstorm mean light clothing, SPF, and an umbrella. June balances great weather with the start of festival season before peak heat and prices.

September in Lyon is one of the best months — warm days, cooler nights, and the city back to life after the August lull. It averages 24°C/13°C with moderate rainfall (80mm). The Beaujolais grape harvest (vendanges) makes a wine-country day trip especially rewarding now, with the vineyards busy and the new vintage in the making. Bouchons reopen after summer holidays, terraces stay lively, and the weather is comfortable for walking the traboules, Fourvière, and Croix-Rousse. In alternating years, the Biennale de la Danse or the Biennale d'Art Contemporain brings major cultural programming. Day trips to Annecy and Pérouges are still excellent before autumn deepens. Note: early autumn can bring showers, so carry an umbrella, and evenings cool down — keep a light layer for late dinners. September pairs great weather with the full return of Lyon's food scene, making it a top shoulder month.

April is one of the best months in Lyon — mild, green, and lively. It averages 16°C/6°C with slightly higher rainfall (70mm) but plenty of sunshine. Spring is in full swing: the Parc de la Tête d'Or and the riverbanks are green, café terraces fill up, and walking the traboules, Fourvière, and Croix-Rousse is a pleasure. The Beaujolais vineyards and Pérouges make perfect day trips as the countryside blooms. This is when Lyon balances good weather with open bouchons (unlike August's closures) and pre-summer prices. Crowds build over Easter and spring weekends but stay manageable. Note: April showers are real — pack a folding umbrella and a light jacket for cool evenings. Otherwise it's an excellent all-round month for combining the city's food, culture, and countryside.
