Mallorca Weather in January — Climate Guide

January is Mallorca's quietest, cheapest month — mild, clear-skied days around 15°C/6°C, far from the summer crush. It's the coolest month but rarely truly cold, with about 43mm of rain spread over a week.

The January signature is Palma's Sant Sebastià fiesta (around January 20) — the city's biggest party, with street concerts and bonfires — and the Sant Antoni village bonfires (January 17). The almond blossom begins to break in late January, turning the countryside white and pink toward February.

This is the time for Palma's culture (La Seu Cathedral, Bellver Castle, the old-town museums), Tramuntana hiking in cool, clear weather, and excellent low-season hotel value. Prices are at their yearly lowest and sights are blissfully uncrowded.

The honest downside: the sea is too cold to swim (~14°C), many beach resorts and coastal restaurants close for the winter, and daylight is short. This is a city-and-mountains month, not a beach month — but for hikers, culture lovers, and budget travelers, it's a calm, rewarding time on the island.
